Air Cooled Heat Exchanger (ACHE)
Air-Cooled Heat Exchanger (ACHE):
An Air-Cooled Heat Exchanger (ACHE), (also known as Air fin Coolers, Fin fan coolers, Fin Coolers), is a type of heat exchanger that uses ambient air as the cooling medium to remove heat from a process fluid. The process fluid flows through finned tubes that are exposed to the surrounding air, and the heat is transferred from the fluid to the fins, which then dissipate the heat to the air. It consists of a bundle of tubes through which the process fluid flows, with fins attached to the outside of the tubes to increase the surface area available for heat transfer. A fan(s) are used to blow air across the fins, which removes the heat from the fluid and transfers it to the air. Option of louvers is also available as per designed requirement.
- Applications:Cooling and condensing of hydrocarbon fluid in the Petroleum, Petrochemical and Natural gas industry.
- Service:Hydrocarbon (Upstream and Down Stream)
- Salient Features:Air Coolers, are finned/Bare tube heat transfer equipment in which the process fluid is flowing inside the tubes and the ambient air, forced over these tubes, acts as the cooling medium.
- Construction:Air cooler commonly has the bol Tube Bundle (Plug box type, Removable cover type, Bonnet and manifold type), with horizontal fan and vertical air flow. The common means of moving air across the air cooler bundle is an axial flow, propeller type fan that either pushes (forced draft) the air across the bundle or pulls (induced draft) it across.
